I wanted to try my hand at a possible UI overhaul, since as good as the old classic blue UI is, I love seeing all the nice new improvements and thought a UI overhaul would complement nicely.

I sampled some of Toby's lovely wood paintings and tried to replicate the feel in order to pull together a wood-like hud. I tried to include everything, but left a few spots blank for whatever needs to be moved or added. I also tried to make the colors softer, li
ke around the chat box. The white text is just for showing what goes where, I think a nice yellow or etched brown would look much better.

Just a simple mockup (with a slightly dimmed screenshot underneath) to show one potential design idea.

Example 2
This second screenshot is to show off the possibility of an easy-hide option for the chatbox, making the lower screen easier to view. When hidden, a "!" marker could appear next to the chat pull-out button to indicate a new message.

Example 3 (and 4)
A dedicated emote tab. Clicking on the emote will show it above your player character, much like now. On top of this, a handful of new emotes could prove useful during dungeons, such as a "Go <-!" or "Look out!" emote for a big AOE attack. Another idea is that two emotes can be used at once (using a third one would overwrite the first), which could prove useful in dungeons alongside the new emotes. For example, there's not enough time to type, but a big AOE attack is coming up. Use "Look out!" "Go ->" will help your teammates die a little less!

I haven't been on in a while but this is honestly a really neat idea!

Generally, in the end, pretty much all of the blue graphics should be replaced.
I agree it's a good idea; generally a bunch of things should change (including a better inventory, which currently is rather confusing if you're new, and don't know that it's split into consumables/equips/etc). Those would probably be more important than, say, the hotkey bar.

We'll see - the style, in any case, is really nice.
