Plant Boss decided not to attack!

I was attempting the quest "Missing In Action" where three NPCS (Andrey, Cythia, and Dave) need to be rescued from a Thornbloom Ancient. When walking into the area where I'm supposed to see a cut-scene, I was frozen in place for a few seconds where none of the cut-scene actually played, before going to move again into the boss's area.

When I walked into the area after being able to move again, none of the cut-scene played still... and the Thornbloom Ancient isn't attacking me, and I can freely walk around it... It's an aggressive boss creature, but is this normal?

Once the picture is approved, u can see me casually sitting next to the giant plant.

Edit: When trying to attack it, the "Character is friendly towards you" text shows!
