When I click on the timid spirit, nothing happens and it only shows its health bar. I kept on trying to get the waffles and clicked on the timid spirit again but nothing happens. I've even tried starting over and the same thing happens.

Okay, so now that I checked into this further, quite a few things happened. After picking up the waffles, you left the cafe long enough for the events to reset - from there on, the spirit was never clickable anymore. That's the bug, and it should be fixed now.
Usually the events reset completely for a new character, except when you're in a group (then they won't reset, since others from your group might still be doing them). Since you joined the same group on your first character and your second, you were also in the same stage of the events, with the unclickable spirit.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know, and sorry about the confusion.
