I think its a great idea that we are able to "try" patterns out to see if we like them or not, because we pay a lot of gold to get them in the end. This brought an idea to mind, we should be able to also try different fur colors. Personally I like to see what colors fit with my armor or costume, I'm imagining that others feel the same way. I've spent over 100 gold one day trying different fur dyes because I wasn't sure what I like best, so I figured I'd be a good idea to bring this up.
