The ghosts were awake outside of ghost hours.
Anyhow, this report was over a year old. It hasn't occurred for a year, so I assume it's fixed. Also remember that hitting the place the ghosts hide in with an area spell (wherever they might hide) will cause them to wake and attack. They'll stay awake for a while then, until they no longer sense anyone nearby.
