Orly is spot on. I'll give it a more specific error message ("You cannot deposit that there" is the generic error message for everything else), but you couldn't deposit the item because it is bound to you.
Normally spirit bottles do not bind. However, when you are using a loot pool, and you hit "Need", the item will bind to you, even if it normally wouldn't (as explained when you hover the "Need" button). Hitting "Need" gives you a higher priority than normal rolls, but in return, you can only use the item yourself then - or sell it.
