mage build would be max int + some dex for faster casting.
I go 25 dex rest int but i think the usual is 1/3 dex rest int as you progress.
Generally as a solo mage you want to be able to kill your target before it get's the chance to attack you.

You also shouldn't spam Slash, it only stacks once per person, unless you need to refresh it when it has low time left :)
