Area of Effect - the area a skill affects.

The game distinguishes between two modes of area effects:

• True area effects affect a rectangular area on the current map.
• Platform area effects affect characters in a rectangular area on the current map, but only if they are on the same platform as the area effect.

During the beta-stage, you can view the area effect of many area-damage skills by typing "/grid" in the chatbox of your client. This also displays the aggro range of the monsters. Typing "/grid" a second time turns the feature off again.
