Game Master

Jump to: navigation, search

Game Masters are staff members that assist with managing Paw'D. They are trusted players who have proven themselves to be reliable, considerate, and effective to deal with the issues that you might run into.

You can tell that someone is a game master by the distinct gold-coloured "Game Master" tag in their name tag. The entire tag, including their name, is in that same colour, allowing you to distinguish it from name tags of regular players. Their name tag also does not show a level. If they use public chat, their text in the chat box is also printed in a light orange colour, and the chat bubble inside the game is blue, with white text. If any of that isn't true, they are trying to trick you.

If you use "/who theirname" on the name of a game master, the response will begin with "<Game Master> TheirName", in this order (and not "TheirName <Game Master>", which may imply a guild).

Notes

  • Game masters do NOT need to your account or your password, for any reason, EVER. A game master with the appropriate privileges that needs to log into your account to "check" or "investigate" anything can simply do so without knowing your password. Anyone who claims to need your password is not a game master, and just wants to wreck havoc with your account.
  • In case you are not sure if someone is a Game Master, ask them to show themselves. A Game Master can always do so, no matter where you are - even if you are in a different dungeon than them, or inside a boss fight. When they unhide (which they can also always do), hover them with your mouse to see if their name tag looks like described above, or not (note that a game master may request that you finish boss encounters first, to not interfere with it).
  • If someone pretends to be a game master, or claims to be able to do something that a normal player could not, report them to us! There is no harm if you report a true game master, so don't worry about that.

  • Only moderators can become Game Masters, following a similar procedure as becoming a moderator.
  • Requesting items from a game master, or asking them to level you is considered a violation against the Terms of Service. They cannot do it, and you will get in trouble for trying to cheat.
  • Game Masters have a several restrictions:
    • They cannot be invited to groups, or added to your friends list, or asked for a trade. If you try, you will receive an error (red) message stating that "This action cannot be performed on members on staff.". However, a game master can invite you, or initiate a trade, like a normal player.
    • They cannot drop items. Any items they drop are destroyed.
    • Any items they pick up are immediately bound to them, even if they would normally not bind.
  • Game masters have different privileges - for example, not every game master can summon monsters.
    • It is not possible to tell what privileges a game master has from their name tag. However, the name tags of all game masters exhibit the same signs as described above.
    • In addition, all game masters can warp to you and unhide. It's a basic privilege that every game master has.
