Moderator

Jump to: navigation, search

A moderator is a trusted player who has proven themselves to be reliable, considerate, and effective to deal with some of the issues that players may run into. This means that they are familiar and experienced with the game, so if they tell you something is not okay, they are probably right, and you should step back and reflect.

You can tell that someone is a moderator by the "Moderator" tag in their name tag. This tag is in a distinct, blue colour, distinguishing it from other elements in the name tag, such as character or guild name.

If you use "/who theirname" on the name of a game master, the response will begin with "<Moderator> TheirName", in this order (and not "TheirName <Moderator>").

Notes

  • Even though moderators are no game masters, they are able to perform several actions to help them with moderation.
  • The only way to become a moderator is for us to make the first step and invite you. We do not accept requests, and if you request to become a moderator, you will severely dampen your chances to become one.

Frequently Asked Questions and Doubts

  • Moderators get chosen on a somewhat random basis, influenced by how long since you joined (e.g. 2016), your actions contributing to the game, and/or active status.
  • You do not receive a notice through any means when you are accepted as a Moderator. You are simply accepted, and you can find out yourself by searching /who *playername* to see if you have a Moderator tag.
  • Moderators often work independently of each other and there is no joint communication in doing so. There are no policies nor responsibilities that you have to follow, and a large portion of moderators may tend to be inactive or operate on a tight schedule.
  • Moderators are NOT staff, but "trusted players". Each Moderator is given basic access to privileges, such as supervision of #Main chat, resetting the server whenever there is a crash, group revives, dungeon instance resets, pvp queues, level scaling, etc. However, each action taken is logged for other moderators & game masters to see, to prevent abuse of power.
  • Moderators are entrusted with additional privileges through a game master. Moderators have very limited power when it comes to logging, and do not have privileges for managing tickets or fixing bugs (since in order to fix a bug, you need access to the game's code directly, but only the creator of the game has access).
