Reset (Monsters)

Jump to: navigation, search

Monsters reset when combat with them has ended. They become immune to damage, and return to wherever they were before getting engaged, ignoring any targets on the way. Once they reached their target location, they recover all their health, and lose all the buffs and debuffs they gained in combat.

Monsters can reset for a number of reasons:

  • The most common reason for a reset is that a monster has no more valid targets. Perhaps all its targets have been defeated, have left the map, or become inaccessible in some other way (for example, a mage using Invisibility on a monster that cannot see invisible targets).
  • The monster cannot path to its target, such as when the target is generally out of reach (standing ontop a cliff, with the monster below it, and unable to jump that high).
  • The game assumes a terrain exploit is used that prevents the monster from retaliating (such as using rocks to climb to an otherwise unreachable spot, and then destroying the rocks).
  • A boss monster has valid targets, but no players are alive for at least seven seconds.

Note that some monsters (bosses in particular) will despawn when the encounter resets, giving you a bit of time to accept any revives and run to safety. Make sure to not be in the boss' range when they respawn, otherwise they will engage you right away.
