Distilling is a mechanic in the game that allows you to turn several weaker potions into stronger potions. It is recommended that you distill when you have a bunch of weaker potions flooding up your inventory or storage. The process has been somewhat outdated, however it still exists within the game.

How does Distilling work?

To start off, you need a Brass Pot Still (can be purchased from Lieshy for 15 gold) or a Steel Pot Still (from the miner in Cave to Midnight Mountain for 495 gold, or defeat him with a extremely low chance of it dropping). The Brass Pot Still is cheaper in price, but it requires 5 of the same potion in order to make a single potion that is one tier higher. The Steel Pot Still is more expensive in price, but requires 4 of the same potion instead.

Next, you need three pieces of coal (can be obtained from the Living Coal monsters in Cave to Midnight Mountain). Every time you use the still, it consumes three coal, but you can make a large batch of potions (which is why you should accumulate a lot of weaker potions first, and not distill on every 4-5 potions you get). The rate to understand here is 3 coal per use of the distiller, not 3 coal per potion (e.g. if you had a bunch of lesser mana pots, lesser healing pots and lesser rejuvenating pots, you'd need 9 coal in total).
