Skill Usage
Arcane Focus is an active skill with additional passive effects towards Mana Shield and reduces the amount of cast time lost from taking damage. It is unlocked by Mage in the Arcane skill tree, being a necessary prerequisite for Bind Elemental and Arcane Might, while requiring at least one point in Harvest Mana to unlock. It is similar to the Priest skill Divine Clarity, but instead it makes a skill cast instantly.
When used, a rotating circle of arcane energy appears on your character and vanishes, leaving with a buff that reduces the cost of your next spell by 100%. It lasts 15 seconds until it expires, or when another skill is used during the duration. It can be combined with any skill that consumes mana.
Notes
- Due to it's high cooldown, Arcane Focus is often used at the start of boss battles to cast an AoE skill such as Fire Wall or Blizzard, which consume a high amount of mana. Strategy-wise, this starts you off with heavy damage at the boss without sacrificing your initial amount, also allowing you to reuse Arcane Focus sooner once the boss fight exceeds 3 minutes.
- A second point in Arcane Focus beyond Lv. 1 is considered optional, as it only further decreases the cast time lost from taking damage by 25%. You already gain the additional 10% effectiveness for Mana Shield with a single point invested into the skill.
