A key ability that interrupts any spell cast by the target, and prevents them from using another spell from that school for five seconds. Use to prevent creatures from casting devastating spells on you and your friends.

Skill Usage

Smite is a key situational skill that prevents a monster or boss from carrying out one of their skills during their cast. It is instantaneous upon use, but depends on how fast you recognize that skill and attempt to stop it. Upon contact, it deals damage equal to half of your physical attack, and consumes 20 Fury. It also silences the target from using that similar school of skills for five seconds.

Unlike Disrupt Magic from mages which can only counter magical spells, Smite can prevent both physical and magical spells. Smite shares it's interrupting capabilities with skills from other classes such as the Hunter's Disrupting Shot and the Priest spell Curse of Silence.

Notes

  • There are some spells that cannot be interrupted at all, often indicated by a shield icon next to the casting bar.
  • Few bosses are immune to being interrupted with entirely, or has a limit to the number of interrupts it can receive before becoming fully immune to them. A particular monster such as the Beholder (from Blackwood Depths) can interrupt all spells at close proximity if it is not already suffering from freeze or sleep.
