Torment your target, dealing dark element damage over 12 seconds. While Torment is active, healing on your target is reduced by 15%.

Skill Usage

Torment is a damage over time skill that inflicts a moderate amount of dark damage on an enemy every three seconds over the course of 12 seconds. Can be seen as the polar opposite of Holy Fire. Highly effective against enemies that are light element, while still strong against neutral or fire.

Unlike Life Tap, which poses risks by consuming hp to restore mp, Torment is a key spell for regenerating mana with Dark Bolt, refunding 10% of it's total damage over time (40% of one tick of periodic damage) + your total magic combined. The mana regen value is fixed for the duration of Torment's duration to the target, and only changes after Torment expires.

Torment is affected by Dark Pact, increasing the spell's damage by up to 15%. It is often used prior to Dark Bolt against a single monster, so that Dark Bolt deals 25% more damage and constantly refunds mana back. Also reduces the healing received on enemies by 15%, making it a useful counter against healing type enemies.

Notes

  • The mana refunded is roughly calculated as follows: 0.1 x (total periodic damage + player's Magic). The 3~15% damage bonus from Dark Pact, the 25% bonus damage to Dark Bolt from Torment itself and elemental match-ups do not influence the amount regenerated.
  • The in-game skill description is incorrect, claiming that Dark Bolt restores 2% of your base mana each time it hits a target with Torment applied to it.
